Latoya Rogers
Latoya Rogers has a goal in every task. Whether coordinating events, handling administrative issues or reconciling financial statements, it’s simple: make the work of those around her easier.
“I aim to bring a sense of reliability, positivity and approachability,” she explained. “I want everyone to know they can count on me for support, whether it’s a major project or a quick question. Their success is my success.”
A business coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciences, Rogers feels MSU is more than a workplace—it’s a place that feels like home, allowing her to thrive personally and professionally.
“I find it truly inspiring that my work contributes to the university’s mission of education and research,” she said. “A role like this constantly provides opportunities for personal and professional development. I enjoy being the hub between departments and administration. It allows me to collaborate with a variety of people and see how all the pieces fit together to make the university successful.”
Rogers manages a wide range of responsibilities, ensuring the smooth operation of the CAS Dean’s Office. Duties involve overseeing everything from distributing critical information, processing leave and preparing requisitions for purchases to executing vendor contracts and handling financial tasks like transferring funds between accounts and performing monthly reconciliations. She also serves as a backup for departments within the college, playing a key role in keeping operations on track.
“Excelling as a business coordinator requires a mix of technical, organizational and interpersonal skills,” Rogers said.
She first joined the university staff in 2010, gaining promotions and new opportunities over the years.
In addition to her professional work, Rogers also is committed to her community. A Starkville native, she graduated from Starkville High School in 2003 before earning an associate degree in ophthalmic technology from East Mississippi Community College in 2005.
Basketball has always played an important role in her life. Growing up, she attended MSU basketball camp every summer.
“I was a huge basketball fan and always dreamed of playing in college and the WNBA,” she said.
Her passion for the sport remains strong, reflecting her determination and focus—traits she brings to her job.
One of Rogers’ favorite daily routines is her morning planning.
“I like to start my day by reading my daily scripture, then I go on to organizing tasks and setting priorities for the day. This gives me clarity and focus, so I’m able to take control before the day gets busy,” she said.
“Being on campus brings a sense of energy and community that’s hard to replicate anywhere else,” Rogers added. “It’s inspiring to be surrounded by people actively pursuing their goals. Being part of a university with a history and deep connection to its community gives a feeling of belonging.”
